Who we are
The Teton Range Bighorn Sheep Working Group is a public-private group of biologists working together since the early 1990s to conserve bighorn sheep.
Despite its small numbers, the Teton Bighorn Sheep Herd lives partially within Grand Teton National Park, Bridger-Teton National Forest, and Caribou-Targhee National Forest. In addition, the Wyoming Game and Fish Department manages this herd outside of the National Park. Therefore, management of the herd and its habitat requires cooperation across these multiple agencies.
Currently, one of the group’s priorities is to raise awareness about the plight of bighorn sheep in the Tetons. Based on their conversations with interested parties, members of the working group are gathering ideas on how to moderate winter pressure on bighorn sheep.
